unlock new iphone 4?

im thinking of going down to best buy and buying a iphone 4 retail price would i be able to unlock it or do they ship with the newest firmware on them

You run a big risk when you do that. It could be either 4.0.2 or 4.1. It's most likely 4.1 so if you want an unlock I would suggest buying it from a private seller; you'll probably get it cheaper too.
