    Default 3g connection problems

Hey there, new here so I hope I'm posting in the correct place.

I have a 3gs that is jailbroken to 4.0. However, about a month or so ago, I have been experiencing connectivity issues with 3g (wifi works fine). Usually I'll need to restart the phone for 3g to work and even then it'll only work for a couple minutes.

The 3g symbol will remain in the upper left hand corner though I won't be able to access it.

My question is, is this because of the jailbreak? Would upgrading to 4.1 solve this issue? Does anyone else have this problem?

I've never had a problem with this with jailbreak. Have you tried your SIM in a different phone?

I'm sure a restore/upgrade would fix it, but maybe not. You should still maybe try a different phone to see if it is a problem with your phone or your service

Would I be able to trade out the sim card to a iphone 3g?

Also, I just recently did a restore when I tried to jailbreak to 4.1 (didn't work), then had to jailbreak back to 4.0.

Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem.

Well yeah just try the SIM on any other phone just to see if 3G is working on them. I have a feeling it's your phone, but I can't be sure. When you restored, did you restore from back up? Cuz that will just carry the problem over

Yeah I may have. I have a feeling if I completely restore and do not jailbreak the phone that the 3g would work fine. I'll try switching the sim cards then un-jailbreaking the phone when I get home and let you know if it worked. Thanks (:

You can jailbreak the phone. That's not what's causing the problem, I believe. You just have to set the phone up as new instead of restoring from back up.
