Default can new jailbreak tools hacktivate too?

I have an Iphone 3gs that is currently running 3.12. I tried to upgrade to 4.1 a few months ago but couldn't activate so I was forced to roll back to 3.12 again.

Will any of the new tools activate my phone for me? or bypass the activation procedure?

I understand that I can activate with any old AT&T sim card but I don't have one to use and haven't been able to find one.

Do you rely on an unlock? If so, update to 4.1 via custom firmware created in Pwnagetool on a Mac or sn0wbreeze on Windows (I believe this will be released shortly). You have the option of hacktivating with those programs.

If you use AT&T and do not rely on an unlock, I believe limera1n and greenpoison hacktivate also, so update to stock 4.1 and then use either one of those programs to jailbreak and activate.

I used to rely on an unlock but I inadvertently updated my baseband about 2 months ago and now I'm waiting for the next unlock.

I thought I might try upgrading to 4.1 again. The last try didn't go so well.

I can tell you for a fact that limera1n does hacktivate. I used limera1n earlier today to hacktivate a 16gb 3gs.
