Default Getting out of Recovery Mode and into DFU Mode

I have an iPhone 3G that is in Recovery Mode and no SIM card. I would like to use PwnageTool 4.1 to jailbreak it, but I'm unable to put it into DFU mode.

    Go download tinyumbrella from tinyumbrella.com

Open the application and click "kick out of recovery mode"

You will need an AT&T active sim to get it out of the boot screen locked

make sure the phone is plugged up to your computer, do a hard reset, as soon as the screen goes black for the reset start the process for dfu mode, you have to be quick but it will work (I have done it), if you aren't familiar with how to put a phone in dfu then learn before you try or you will be there a while
