Exclamation question for the pros , my 3g

my 3g has 3.1.3 which i know is fast.
however on 3.1.3 some aps dont work and some themes and stuff wont work.
i was thinking of upgrading it to 4.0.1
would this be a good move or should i not do it, what will i lose or gain
    thanks all

Better to go to 4.1 than 4.0.x

use a custom firmware, that will avoid the baseband update, use either pwnagetool (mac) or sn0wbreeze (windows), since you need an unlock make sure to choose the "activate" option when creating the custom firmware
In the end we're all just chalk lines on the concrete, drawn only to be washed away. For the time that I've been given, I am what I am.

You shouldn't go to 4.0.1, it's got very poor performance on a 3G. You lose certain Cydia apps not working, but most have been updated for 4.1. Depends on what Cydia apps/tweaks you really want.
