changing Host File

I have been trying to update my 3gs phone from jailbroken 3.1.2 to 4.1. everything I have tried I keep getting error messages. I was told that it didn't look like my host file had been changed. here is what the last few lines in my host file looks like.
#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com #ECID
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com #ECID
Is this correct? Does this force it to look to saurik instead of apple?? thanks
Just to recap everytime I try to shift restore I get either error message 3194 or 3014

I edited this as I was told that the lines from my hosts file did not show up.
