Downgrade 3.1.3 to 3.0.1
Hi, since I upgraded my 2G to 3.1.3 it keeps waking up from sleep every 10 seconds, like if it is connecting and disconnecting a power supply. I already tried cleaning the connector but I see no change so I'm wondering if the problem is the version itself or maybe the IPSW file that I'm using. That's why I want to try a different approach and use 3.0.1 again (which I had no problem with for more than a year) My question is. How I downgrade a 2G 3.1.3 to 3.0.1 without running in any trouble. Can I just "Shift-Restore" I read a guide in MMI, but it didn't specified a 2G, but a 3G.
Please help with Comments/Advice/Tips..
Thank you.

Download your firmware from here :iClarified - iPhone - Where To Download iPhone Firmware Files From
Put your iphone into DFU mode
Do the shift + Restore to 3.0.1 ipsw
Use kick out of recovery from the feature of Tiny Umbrealla
Jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.8 but point to 3.0 ipsw.
You are done.

Why I have to use Tiny Umbrella after restore? After restore and load the OS it suppose to go out of recovery by its own, right?

Well if you didn't get 1015, then you don't need it.

Sometimes it gets error 1015 like Yeow said. It's a baseband downgrade error, which is supposed to happen since basebands can't get downgraded via iTunes. That's why it gets stuck in Recovery Mode which TU will kick it out of.

Oh, I see. Didn't know.
One last question. Why I have to put it in DFU mode. What I mean is. After you plug the phone ITune will give you the summary page where you can "shift+Restore" (I just want to make sure I really understand the why's of every single step)
Thanks again.

Each Redsn0w version is designed for different firmwares. Like for 3.0 you use 0.8, for 3.1.2 you'd use 0.9.3, for 4.1 you'd use 0.9.6b1 etc.
:/ I might have some of the numbers jumbled...but you get the point haha.Last edited by i.Annie; 10-20-2010 at 03:35 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

The higher the version , the most recent it is but the catch is different versions do different version of OS jailbreak.

What I want is to get rid of this annoying go to sleep > wake up > go to sleep > wake up every 10 seconds. I went to UBROKEIFIX store to ask if they know what is happening and they had no idea why this is happening.

Dfu mode, Then just shift + restore to 3.0.1 or even 3.0, error 1015 pops up, kick out of recovery and jailbreak with redsn0w 0.8. It only takes 15 minutes to find out.
You may have a problem with your iphone, normally , it should not do that.Last edited by iYeow; 10-22-2010 at 07:04 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I'll try to go back to 3.0.1, but now I recall this thing started to happen one morning after I unplugged it after I left it charging overnight. And I had it at 3.0.1

Yeah, if after going back to 3.0.1 , you still have this issue, time to get a new one, sell this for parts..

AMAZING... After downloading all the files and be ready to restore back. I opened ITunes, plugged my phone. Summary came up. Press the sleep/home buttons, the red slider showed up, but I keep pressing. Phone turned off. At this point i didn't know if it was in DFU, so I unplugged it and turned it on. After on just for curiosity I test to put it to sleep and see if it awakes by its own........... VOILA!!!!!........ Is fixed by itself!!!..... DON'T ASK ME... I'M STILL IN SHOCK... I don't know why now works... I've been dealing with this issue for the last 2 weeks... Let's see what happens if I put the SIM ...

***.............. AND IT WORKS !!!!!!!!!!............... ***Last edited by Davesdream; 10-23-2010 at 03:09 PM.
