    Default iPhone 3GS, iOs 4.1 (JB'ed) - 00 49 IMEI

    Hello,

I recently bought a secondhand 3GS, and updated it to iOs 4.1 without thinking... Turns out that the phone was already jailbroken, and iTunes tells me the phone has a problem. Limera1n works great, and the phone works. However, the IMEI is set to 00 499901 064000 0, which I've heard is pretty bad news.

I would like to know if a 05.14.02 baseband unlock by ultrasn0w would fix this?

    Thanks,
    Nathan

Currently the 5.14.02 baseband cannot be unlocked with ultrasn0w. You'll have to wait until 4.2 drops; the devs will probably release an unlock then.

Thanks for the reply! I guess I only have to wait a few weeks then.

But could you please tell me if the unlock will fix my IMEI problem?

    Thanks

What's the significance of this IMEI number and how can you avoid it happening to your phone?

Is this like when a network blocks your phone from being used in whichever country it's from because it's stolen or something?
