How to know iPhone 4 version?

How to know iPhone 4 version without having to unpack it?

I have been to many stores asking about iPhone 4 with

version 4.0.1 which can be jailbroken, but the salesman

always tells me he can't tell.

Why? because he sells the unit packed.

So, how can I be sure of the version without having to unpack the carton?

All versions of the iPhone 4 can be jailbroken right now..so u can go and buy any iPhone 4..unless u need an unlock..

Do you recommend other ways?

One more thing, what you meant by "u need an unlock"?

The baseband for 4.0.1 is unlockable but not 4.1, so you are good to unlock with Ultrasnow from Cydia.

if you just want to jailbreak use the Limera1n.com website if you are just going to be on ATT but if you need a carrier unlock you need to wait if you are on 4.1

The iPhone 4 in our country is not locked to a specific carrier, similar to the ones sold in UK.

So, all matters to me is the Jailbreak issue and not the carrier

Anyway, I am buying it and wishing to face no problems with the version
