I want to clean off my current jailbreak and re-jailbreak for a clean start. This was my first time jail breaking and I downloaded a bunch of stuff and now my iPhone 3G (T-Mobile) has some issues. Now that I have some experience and I know what I need and what not I want to do a clean install ( or jail break).

Do the shift + restore to 3.1.3 again and rejailbeak with redsn0w 0.9.4
I have 3.1.3. Do I have to shift+restore or could I just do that jailbreak?

If your 3.1.3 is not jailbroken, then you can jailbreak it now but if it is jailbroken, then you have to restore again in order to jailbreak.

Ok cool. And if I do setup as a new phone it won't delete my contacts or pics?

Setup up as new iPhone & sync back your contacts and photos through iTunes if you have backed it up.

Using my backup to restore my contacts didn't restore anything. I don't know why.
