Go to your hosts file, make sure you have all of them checked like this :
Run Notepad as Admin , open up hosts file and edit back to :
    #74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
    #74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    #127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
to temporary ignore it, so Apple can verify it on IOS 4.1

No the idea is if you have the hosts file pointing towards Cydia, then you mark it with # so you don't direct it to Cydia. The 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com is to tell the computer to use locale server.
If you don't have any of those in there, you don't have to edit or add any of those.

Did you press update or restore ? Do Restore.
Put your iphone into recovery mode and press restore.

Or you can download the iphone 4 4.1 ipsw and do the Shift + Restore to 4.1 ipsw.
