Default Is a restore required for jailbreaking?

Is a restore required for jailbreaking? Or if I have an iPhone at 4.0.1 and 4.0.1 already, can I just run limera1n and jailbreakme and have it jailbreak it just like that?

Ah ok, so only on previously jailbroken phones?

the two phones are both my brothers phones, so they are not jailbroken. Just wanted to make sure I didnt have to sync their phones and restore them both with my pc before I jailbroke them.

If it is not jailbroken, then you can jailbreak right away.
