3gs upgrade ?

k so i gotthis phone that is unlocked and this guy wants me to upgrade it to 4.0, ( i know, lol ) and jailbreak and reunlock it
i havent done this before so instead of messing up the phone whats the best method for doing this for him, thanks

Depends what model of iPhone it is, if it's a 3GS what bootrom it is, what SHSH blobs it has saved etc.

More information would be useful please.

Check Cydia and see what SHSH are available. If it has 4.0 use TinyUmbrella TSS server to update to 4.0 then Jailbreak with Jailbreakme.

If it's old bootrom, do a snowbreeze custom firmware upgrade.

new bootrom , no shsh saved , so can i not ugrade it to 4.0 i guess he wants it done cause theres some apps he wants that wont work with 3.1.3

No you can't upgrade it to 4.0 without SHSH blobs.

You could upgrade it to 4.1 if he doesn't need an unlock for it and jailbreak it with limera1n. But if he needs an unlock you can't.
