3g, cani downgraded 4.1 to 3.13 or 13 and problem with #1 and q

Im not very familar with iphones. I gave my girl friend an unlocked 3g awhile ago. A few days she added a italian language keyboard and the number keyboard stopped working. She erased all settings. That deleted the keyboard and was able to get back to the number keyboard, except that the 1 and q keys didn't work. Next she erased all content and settings and stupidly allowed itunes to download and load the ios 4.1 along with the current baseband (i don't know what version it is but is was done 2 days ago). She was able to jailbreak it with the redsnow beta. Once she got back onto the phone the 1 an q keys still don't work. I was hoping that the os reload would have fixed this problem.

Now my questions.

1. Does anyone have a clue how to fix the 1 and q keys? this is sounding like a hardware problem
2. Can this phone be downgraded to 3.13 or 3.12?

You can downgrade a 3g with Shift + Restore to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3.
You will need kick out of recovery from Tiny Umbrellla when error 1015 pops up.
Eventhough you can downgrade firmware, your baseband cannot be downgraded, so hopefully you don't need unlock.

use redsn0w 0.9.6b and it should work a treat
u prob need to download the 4.1 software for redsn0w
