Problems trying to downgrade

I'm trying to downgrade my ipod touch 3g from 4.1 to 4.0.x

I've got SHSH saved, and i've edited my host file to include:

74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

I've tried going into itunes and shift installing the FW while in DFU and I still get an error 3194.

I understand DFU mode is hard to get into, could I be doing this wrong? Itunes says it's detected an ipod in recovery mode but there is nothing on the iphone display.

Windows 7 x64 and itunes 10.0.0.68
Can someone help? x
