I am trying to restore my iphone for more than 1.5 hour. I have 3GS with 3.1.2 jailbroken by blackra1n and it's officially unlock [old bootrom]. What I did was trying to upgrade to FW 4.1 so I tried restore first with sn0wbreeze-V2.0.2 custom fw but I'm getting unknown error 28. Now even with the official fw my iphone wont restore (it goes white first then to flash yellow then give me 28 error). Its stayed on black screen for a long time but now it's shut down so I leave it. Please help me with my issue. I am afraid to try again then the battery drain.
Help, I just want my iphone work normal even w/o jailbreak!!
Regards,
Yes I am sure .. I have my 3gs before the new bootrom come. Anyway, are you sure I will can restore my iphone after the battery fully drain. cuz now I can't even open my iphone I just have blank screen not even any logo. I am afraid I can't recharge it later!
I guess the iphone stuck in recovery mode !
I can't start it neither restore it.
If you have the old bootrom and you applied Snowbreeze restore ontop of Blackra1n, it should work. Cannot understand why it goes into permanent DFU mode.
Yes, it will work after completely drained.

You might have to wait for atleast 10 to 15 days before you can do any restore again.
If you are brave enough to remove the battey, it is much easier than a 3g in terms of taking out the battery, then that is a much quicker way, remove it and let it sit for 5 minutes without the battery and then put it back.
If you have warranty on it, then don't do it.
Can you tell me what actually happened. You had blackra1n on it and you shift + Restore to Snowbreeze, right ? Have you updated your itunes to 10 ?
Did you check the bootrom yourself or you are just being told ? you can give me the first five serial numbers starting from the left.

Yes, I was just having my lovely 3gs iphone fully functional.
Lately, I upgrade my Win so I reinstall all programs as well as iTunes to ver.10. I just connect my iphone by mistake -I was thinking to update anyway =)- .. and everything happened at once. First the itunes jumps to the front then it start synchronizing I cancel it but it's shut down my iPhone then it asked for restore to start again. Until now I am trying to restore.
:: I didn't think I will face something like that, I thought even if I couldn't jailbreak it will just upgrade my iphone to the new version. I thought it's simple as formating a PC ::
Yes, I have old bootrom -why you doubt?- it's 359.3 I just check it.
And the first five serial numbers: 87935
can it be solved by downgrading itunes to older version?
No, downgrading Itunes will not solve your problem. For IOS 4.0 and above you will need Itunes 10.
You can try using kick out of recovery from Tiny Umbrella but I don't think it will help.
Error 28 has happened to quite a number of guys , and by either draining out the battery or removing it, it will reset itself back to restore mode.
If restoring to the latest official firmware gives you a white screen , then black and error at 28, I am this is the only solution for now.
But, the update never run or complete. I think the iphone still on 3.1.2 isn't it?
I just remember why I connect my iphone, I was trying to use this program TinyUmbrella but unfortunately, the iTunes said his word first.
As I said if I try to restore the iPhone with original fw the screen first turn white then it turns yellow .. then black and giving me 28 error in itunes, and after repeating its shut down.
Should I leave it on black screen so the battery draining?
What about error 1600 I read alot about it but nothing helps.
then it doesn't work. If you are in recovery mode, then Tu can kick it out. How much did you pay for this factory unlock. Is the warranty over.
Open it, two screw at the bottom. Inside i think under a stick label, there is a screw, unscrew it with a jewelry screw driver, the battery is only glued to it, but there is a connecting cable undo it...
Dealing with Iphone is real pain...LOL
No wonder why Apple didn't want to have the battery easily removable like other phones.
