currently I have 3.1.2 on iphone 3g...but my baseband is 5.14.02...i know i cannot unlock the carrier, but can i upgrade to 4.1 for multi tasking etc, and just use as ipod etc.??? and jailbreak it??...if so....how???....i get so confused with all the diff itunes to use diff programs unlocks, etc..and took me 2 days to get it back after i updated to 4.1 and jacked it all up...lol...TIA....Dirty

Yes you can go to 4.1 and use redsn0w if you have a mac, or make a custom 4.1 pre-jailbroken with sn0wbreeze if you only have access to windows.

ok...so i have snowbreeze....it browsed to 4.1 ipsw that i downloaded.....then asked if i want to activate...i chose yes...now what i do?

You build the .ipsw now, when done it will place it on your desktop.

What are you currently jailbroken with (jailbreakme/blackra1n/redsn0w)?

Oh and if you want multi tasking you need to select that option when building your custom firmware, you may need to select expert mode to do that.

Then you should have no problem restoring to a custom 4.1

If you have an official sim to activate, i suggest you uncheck the activate. If you choose to activate, you will not be able to use Youtube and you will have syncing problem. Youtube cannot be easily fixed by Push Doctor or Youtube fix anymore.

ya that's a good suggestion, official activation is always better than hacktivation if you have the choice.

I think that is one of the reason why Pwnage tools hasn't had an official 4.1 because of hactivation problem.
