upgrading 3g ? question need answer, thanks

got a 3g with 3.0 and want to update it to 3.1.3 , whats the method to do this so i can make sure i do it right, iv always downgraded never tried to upgrade, thanks all

Download the 3.1.3 firmware, shift-click restore to it in itunes. Then you can use redsn0w 0.9.4 to jailbreak.

Think of an iPod Touch 3G like an iPhone 3GS. They're very similar in terms of jailbreak methods.
