    Default Jailbreak Upgrade?

After many searches on this site and others, I am confused.

I have an IPhone 3G ver. 3.1.3 and want to upgrade with OS to 4.0 and remain jailbroken.

I would be doing this via PC.

What is the link to do this with.

    Thanks in advance.

There is alot of info on the web, just google it.

As for remaining jailbroken you cannot, you will have to restore to 4.0 then re-jailbreak and unless you have everything backed up you will lose all your info.

Depends what you're jailbroken with. If it's Spirit/Jailbreakme you first need to use Spirit2pwn to get your phone "pwned" and then do a custom firmware restore using snowbreeze.

If it's currently jailbroken on snowbreeze/redsn0w you can just go right ahead with a custom firmware upgrade using snowbreeze 1.6.2.

    Good luck

If you are jailbroken on 'jailbreakme' don't use spirit2pwn it will crash your phone, use jbme2pwn instead.

    Get Sn0wbreeze 2.0.2
Get a stock 4.1 ipsw here:
    http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4/06...7_Restore.ipsw

Create the custom fw in Sn0wbreeze with the 4.1 ipsw

When that's done, open iTunes and set your phone into DFU mode

Shift+restore (do not update or just click restore, hold shift and click restore)

Browse to the custom fw you created (make sure it is NOT the stock fw you used to create the custom fw or else you'll be sorry)

    Let iTunes restore the phone

When finished, you should be jailbroken on 4.1

Unlock with Ultrasn0w in Cydia if necessary

Edit: I forgot, if you run into any errors during the restore, simply use iReb (from iH8sn0w.com) to bypass any errors.

i would stay with 3.1.3 with an iphone 3g. 4.0 and 4.0.1 seems very sluggishy with the 3g. its ok with the 3gs and of course iphone4 but deffinately not the best for the 3g.

I see that you have 3 phones, 4.1 is fine for 3g, the bugs have been fixed.

If you get any errors in the 2000's when using sn0wbreeze during the jailbreak, just unplug the USB cord quickly and plug it back in.
