iOS 4.1

I just bought an iPhone today and unfortunately, it has already been updated to the 4.1 iOS which includes the baseband update.

I'm wondering what are the chances of unlocking on the new 4.1 baseband in the future? Because I travel a lot and i absolutely need my phone to be unlocked, if the chances of unlocking are too slim, I'll probably just return it...

If you count on the unlock that much it may be a better idea to buy an factory unlocked version. Cost more but worth it to not have to worry about unlocks.

There is chatter of a tool coming soon to jailbreak, but you're also going to need a new unlock.

Depends how patient you are for these to be released. It would be quicker to send it back and get another most likely.

No one has any idea when the new tools will be available.

wouldn't that just get me another updated 4.1 iPhone

I mean get another one from somewhere else. iPhone's can be bought new factory unlocked or second hand factory unlocked or jailbroken and unlocked.
