How can I go from 3.1.3 to 4.1 on a 3gs with ew bootroom ?

Hi folks,

I keep searching on the net to find a way to upgrade my 3GS on new bootroom from 3.1.3 to 4.1 but it always points to the same solution; downgrade from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 then use sn0wbreeze 2.0.

Is that correct ? Is there any other way ?

FYI: when I purchased my phone is was already on 3.1.3 and JB with Spirit so I don't know what was done prior to that.

I don't think you can use sn0wbreeze with new bootrom from 3.1.3. Your best bet is to see if you have SHSH for 4.0/4.0.1 and use tiny umbrella to update to one of those then use jailbreakme.com. Or you can wait for the new 4.1 jailbreak to come out. Just dont update to stock 4.1 if you rely on unlock.

When I start Cydia on it tells me at te top of the screen:

SHSH: iOS 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2

so I think I'm ok. I downloaded TinyUmbrella so how do I go about this if I want to upgrade to 4.0.1 ?

(will I lose anything on my phone, apps, contacts, etc?)
