Can't downgrade ip4 4.1
I have stock 4.0.1 iOS, also have umbrella too. I change hosts file. I also have shsh file for 4.0.1 from cydia and on my computer. Even thought it's a file that my pc can't read. Problem is when is in the umbrella application. It says it can't listen because of port 80. Where is that, what are you suppose to do? Need some help in changing it.

Do you have skype or some similar program running? If you do you need to close them out them try tiny umbrella again.

Ok, if you have the latest tiny umbrella and you ran it as admistrator then it should have edited your hosts for you to point to cydia. Just to make sure run it again, right click on it and select run as administrator, press start tss server then stop it then close tiny umbrella. Now try putting it in dfu and shift-click restoring to 4.0.1 without using tiny umbrella.

i still getting the message telling I dont have admin privileges, i do
you have something running on port 80, i am sure im not
you have host file is not modifiable, i guessing that the one you point to cydia
cplease check antivirus or shutdown skype/teramviewer/etc as these apps block access to port 80.
well, i dont have skype, teamviewer/etc. dont know if thats a program or not. any help

It should yes. You may want to check your host files to see what it says.
Read this on how to do it manually, scroll down to the "Bypassing the Overlord" part

You edit your hosts file with Notepad and run it as admin if you are using Win7
Two ways to go,
One is to point your hosts file and do the shift + restore, then you have to edit your hosts file.
Two : you don't have to edit, run tss server if your shsh blogs is stored in TU
If your tss server is greyed out, then you have port 80 being used.Last edited by iYeow; 09-23-2010 at 08:44 PM.

Then you have to go with the point to saurik server .
Click Start, Notepad , run as admin , open up to hosts file , edit it to look like this
#127.0.0.1 localhost
#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
save it and reboots
Put ipod in DFU mode
Do the Shift + Restore to 4.0.1

NO , this is just an example, when you put this sign #, you are asking the pc to ignore those items.
