Will this work for a 3GS that's not been jailbroken before? I'm running 4.1 with the old bootrom. I don't need an unlock.

You'll need to be on 3.1.x and JB with either pwnagetool or blackra1n in order to use a custom fw like sn0wbreeze creates to go up to JB 4.1.

How do I get to 3.1.x ?? Can I downgrade or is there a way for me to jb in 4.1??

Download the 3.1.3 ipsw for 3g, do the shift + restore to 3.1.3, jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.4, make sure you point to 3.1.2, and once you are jailbroken at 3.1.3, you are now ready for 4.1 jailbreak.
Restore to Snowbreeze_4.1.ipsw created by Snowbreeze.
If you encounter error 1015, use tiny umbrella to kick it out.

Hi

Im not sure whats going on but is anyone else having problems with Snowbreeze 2.0

Ive tried it on 2 different computers adn 2 different iPhones both on 4.01 jailbroke with redsnow
i made the firmware for 3g 4.1
open itunes
hit shift restore
it extracts the firmware
then it goes to prepare the iPhone and it puts the iphone into recovery mode with the connect to itunes logo
then thats it, nothing else happens
i tried putting them in dfu mode and it does the same thing
i then tried to shift restore to a apple 4.0.1 and it succeed with no problems
then i ran a fresh redsnow jailbreak and it still hung up on the itunes recovery logo

2 different computer
2 different iphone 3g
same results seems like it would be an issue with snowbreeze

any thoughts?

I'm not sure who that was for but it won't work for you... You're on a 3GS right? You can't downgrade without SHSHs. And redsn0w doesn't work on the 3GS on 3.1.x.

Then how do I jailbreak? I'm on a 3GS with the old bootrom and 4.1. I have no shsh on file because it's never been jailbroken before.

Well, you really can't at this point if you can't downgrade first. Which you can't cuz you don't have your SHSHs.

Beware there are lots of guides out there stating Snowbreeze 2.0 works with new bootrom and on old bootrom 3GS with 4.0.1 (jailbreakme and spirit2pwn). I think we might start seeing a lot of owners of bricked 3GS phones on here soon as there's no mention of it on ih8sn0w.com.

I might upgrade to 4.1 over the weekend if I hear positive results - Yeow can be the test case (I was going to say crash test dummy) but that would be rude!

it seems i can flash the phone and everything is good, but it won't activate for me.

i have tried 4.1 and 4.0.1

i have an at&t phone unlocked and used on rogers network 3.1.3 firmware with old bootrom (359.3)

I can't figure out how to get it activated again.

Can anyone help?

This is starting to make me angry..lol

So as it stands right now, there's no way for me to jailbreak?? I was at 4.0.2 and decided to update to 4.1 and now I guess it was a bad idea.
