trying to upgrade to 4.0.1
Hey all,
I have a 3gs jb on 3.1.2. I tried to upgrade to the 4.0.1 ipsw but I get an error 3194. Does anyone know any workaround/options?
Thx!

You need to have your SHSH's saved from a time when apple was signing 4.0.1 or before. Check with Tiny Umbrella.
Otherwise, you will have to do a upgrade to 4.1.--= Fortes fortuna adiuvat =--

You were jailbroke so i assume you clicked the make my life easier in cydia? If so you should have your shsh blobs saved for older firmwares. This link should help you out. http://modmyi.com/forums/general/725...e-restore.html

Have you downloaded tiny umbrella ? Plug your iphone into pc, iphone must be bootable. Click Advanced option , Under Device/Version > select the required shsh blogs . Request from Cydia. Wait for answer. Click on Display shsh to see if you have it stored locally.
I have a question for you ? Did you use Blackra1n on 3.1.2 and do you know if your iphone is tethered or untethered ? meaning do you have new or old bootrom ?
Since you get error 3002, you can use tiny Umbrella, there is a function to kick out of recovery and you are back to 3.1.2.
I waited too long, just in case if you have the old bootrom (if your jailbreak at 3.1.2 is Blackra1n and you do not need a pc to boot up your iphone everytime you power down , then you have the old bootrom ) then put your iphone into recovery mode and restore to custom firmare.Last edited by iYeow; 09-19-2010 at 11:11 PM. Yes, I tried through Tiny Umbrella, that's when I got the 3002 error.
I did jailbreak on 3.1.2 with Blackra1n. I thought it was tethered but when I run Forecast it says it's not. After jailbreaking, since I assumed it was tethered, I just never bothered powering it down.
I'll try again with Tiny Umbrella and attempt it while it's in restore mode.
Thanks for the help!

Steve70, I can get you to 4.0 and don't bother about 4.0.1 becasuse there is no difference in features.
Before you proceed, make sure you sync all your contacts, photos becasue you are going to setup as a new Iphone when restored.
Download SnowBreeze from iH8sn0w.com | Jailbreak your iPod touches and iPhones version 1.7, if you can get 1.6.2 is better.
Download the 3gs 4.0 official firmware from iClarified - iPhone - Where To Download iPhone Firmware Files From
Build your own custom firmware of iOS 4.0, you can Choose Simple Method.
Once created , it will be placed on your desktop, called Snowbreeze_4.0..ipsw.
Now , put your Iphone into recovery mode ( Turn off device, hold the Home Button and plug in your iphone until Itunes Cable Logo appears )
Press Shift key + Restore to Snowbreeze_4.0.ipsw
Once restored your iphone is already hactivated and jailbroken at IOS 4.0
Open Cydia, let it update and finally install Ultrasn0w to unlock.
