Upgrading iphone 3gs from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 instead of 4.1

The latest filmware is 4.x but i want to upgrade to 3.1.3 and still be able to unlock. Is this anyway possible? I tried to restore but I get an error. Please help.

If 3.1.3 is all you want to go to, don't bother as the difference between the two is negligible. You would need SHSH for 3.1.3 to do it to avoid that error.

Do you have SHSH for 3.1.3? What did you use to jailbreak?

Point your host file to Cydia.
Do the Shift + Restore to 3.1.3 ipsw.

If you don't know how to point , add this line to your hosts file, run Notepad as Admin if you are using Vista/Win7, open the hosts file and the hosts file is here C

windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
It looks like this :

#74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
#127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

save it and reboots your pc.

An alternative would be to use yinyumbrella and check which SHSHes you have. Then you can start the TSS server and restore in itunes.

The latest version of tiny umbrella will actually edit your hosts file for you after running it once. So no need to do it manually.

so what do i do? open tinyumbrella and click save my shsh?
and what i do next? put in restore mode and restore to 3.1.3?

You can just right click and choose run as administrator on tiny umbrella. Once you close it down again it will edit your hosts to point to cydia. At this point try a dfu restore to 3.1.3.

If you only have SHSH for 4.1 then you cant restore to anything but that, which is not jailbreakable right now. Your only other option is there is something in cydia that can spoof your iphone to make itunes think you are on 3.1.3. Not sure of the name of it though.

Too bad lol, if you don't have your shsh saved from when you were on 3.1.3, then you can't ever go back

its called "fake 3.1.3"
so i install it and i can restore in itunes?
