Now my question:
I can update directly to 3.1.3 correct? Of course I would DL the IPA and probrably run 8.x iTunes to to do the update....my question truly is would I run into any problems?


Sad thing is the bootrom is 5.9 but with 4.29 baseband, or should I roll iPWN on Mac and see if I can preserve baseband?

You can simply use a stock 3.1.3 ipsw to shift+restore to in iTunes 9. I'm not 100% sure iTunes 10 is ok but it might be.

You'll also wanna download the 3.1.2 ipsw cuz you'll need that to jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.4.

Edit: your baseband will be fine if you go to 3.1.3 as all basebands are unlockable EXCEPT the one that comes with 4.1, which you don't and won't be going up to.
