iPhone Restore Won't Work

My iPhone 4 wouldn't start up so I tried doing a restore. It got about halfway through but gave me error 1004.

So I downloaded Recboot to try and fix the problem. It says:

itunesmobiledevice.dll is missing from your computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Is there anything I can do? I'm worried that my iPhone is forever lost.

Have you installed the latest Itunes ? If you have, uninstall Itunes and reinstall again.
