I am new here, I have iphone 4 verizon jailbreak untethered on 4.2.7. I would like to update to 5.0.1 jb untethered without losing all the apps that already installed. Could anyone show me the correct way to update or guide how to do it? I thank you in advance.

You gonna have to go to 5.1 and it's a tethered jailbreak

So one more question. If I have a 3GS that's on 4.3.5 right now and has never gone any higher I'm pretty much SOL for a 5.0.1 upgrade since I have no blobs for that right?

Who's the official carrier? A 3GS should be eligible for a free unlock from the carrier, otherwise, u can try the steps found here:

I think the official carrier was AT&T, but I'm not the original owner as it was given to me when they first came out

All I know is the IMEI- I don't know the phone number, account name or anything else! Any way I can just put in my IMEI for it to be unlocked?
