First off I'm an Android user and have no experience whatsoever with any apple product. I've rooted several android devices though so I'm hoping I can quickly learn what I need to.
I just bought an Iphone 4 (Version 5.0.1 (9A405), modem fw 04.11.08) for my girlfriend for Christmas. She currently uses tmobile with an Iphone 3gs without 3g internet. Is it going to be possible for me to get this phone to work on t-mobile? Will I need to roll back to an older version?

Even if you can roll back to an older version, your baseband is not going to "roll anywhere", it stays at 04.11.08 and can only go up as you update.
Think of it like a Counter : you press once , it clicks forward and can't go back.
Maybe in 2 months time when the Miracle sim from china comes out, you can purchase one for US 65.00Last edited by iYeow; 12-05-2011 at 09:08 PM.

Arghhh...Should have researched before buying the phone. Should have known apple would lock down their products. Rooting androids is so much less hassle!!!

I have the android I want. I need an iPhone 4 that will work on t-mobile for my gf and I don't want to pay $600 for a factory unlocked one. I'll sell you the one I just bought if you seriously want it though.

is it safe to assume that the 4s will not be getting a jailbreak for a long time?

Process diagram?
Hey guys, just struggling a bit with all the info to digest.. so many different caveats etc
In looking at all this info, I just wonder where a simple process diagram would be a good idea? (simple in concept but it would actually be a pretty detailed diagram
)
Sort of things like:
What model do you have -> (select model branch) -> what OS atm (select version branch to follow) -> What baseband (select base band) -> etc. etc.
We use these sorts of diagrams all the time for work processes and they're so easy to follow. I'm sure everyone's seen the simple Yes/No style versions anyway.Last edited by yanman; 12-22-2011 at 04:59 PM.

Unfortunately no, it cannot if it isn't factory unlocked.

The original post needs an update.
Is there an untethered 5.1 JB?

The original post sure does need an update, if only I had enough time between school and work to do so
No there is not currently an untethered 5.1 ATM.

Forgive my lack of knowledge but I do have a question. I have an iPhone 4S and an iPhone 4 both jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1. I do not have the SHSH blobs saved for either device. The problem is my Siri is broken on my 4S (poor choice of a tweak) and I would like to restore and rejailbreak it. I'd like to do this to the 4 as well. Is this possible without the blobs saved or do I just need to live with the broken Siri for awhile (been like that pretty much since 5.0.1 was released, I'm just lazy). Thanks guys.
Please do not take my pictures for your personal sites.

Unfortunately no, you can't restore to anything but 5.1. The 4S can't use SHSHs ATM.
