You have to install Itunes 9.2 or higher.

Did you download the 3G ipsw from the internet and do the Shift + Restore or you can just restore though Itunes.
If it still gives you error, try putting it in Recovery mode, it should restore .

Put the phone into recovery mode, first sync with itunes, u will lose everything that u dont back up, simply turn it, plug the cable into the iPhone and the computer, now press the power button and release and immediately hold the home button until it says connect to iTunes click restore and update, it will ask u to restore from backup say okay u should be good

Right now it shows the USB and Itunes logo on the iphone and itunes doesn't even show the restore option or recognize the iphone what so ever.

Hi guys, I uninstalled itunes and re installed and as soon as it was done it said the iphone was in recovery mode and needed to be restored.
I'm currently in the restore and update part.
thanks so much for the help. I guess it was an itunes issue?

error 20000, hmmm, just close it . Use tiny umbrellla to kick out of recovery. I think you are still good at the previous firmware.

out of no where the phone is back to normal.
Cydia is still there too lol.
I'm trying to update to 4.1 now hopefully it goes good this time.
4.1 is jail breakable right on the 3G?

Not sure, there is a video but I don't know if it works, if you rely on unlock, don't do it, your baseband will be updated.
I only trust the Dev Team, and that is not an official jailbreak.

Well it seems to have worked. Were running 4.1 on this 3G and it's been jailbroken. Cydia is now live lol. Pretty much the same process as I did with the 3G on 4.0.2
What do you mean this is not an official release from them? How is the software available if it's not from them?

Let me know if the jailbreak at iOS 4.1 goes well. I like mine to be one step behind so I can make sure that most of Cydia apps are ported to the OS, otherwise I can't use it...LOL
If you still like the jailbreak, I suggest you stay at 3.1.3 for now until the official jailbreak for 4.1 is out. 4.0 and 4.0.1 for 3G definitely is too slow for 3G, but 4.1 fixes the issue.Last edited by iYeow; 09-15-2010 at 02:02 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

He was trying to jailbreak 3g OS 4.1 with Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 which is not meant for it, no doubt you can jailbreak but you don't have a phone icon and some other stuffs not working.
