Should I jailbreak my 3g 4.1?
I just got an iPhone 3g, but it's on 4.1. I want to jailbreak it, but everybody who does loses their phone app. This doesn't matter right now, because if I can't unlock it, then I don't need the phone app. However, when unlocking becomes possible on 4.1, will I be able to fix it?
Thanks for the help

it depends on if any of the DEV team decides to try to unlock the devices, i know they might but they might not...... but it is all up to them,.... but there have been other problems reported, i dont know exactly what they are, but people were saying that they were having other problems as well.... so my say in this would be to just wait untill SHAtter comes out

If you just want to jailbreak it, then you have to downgrade to 3.xx without the use of shsh for 3G.

You van totally do the unlock if it deletes the phone.app all you have to do is when the unlock comes out perform a restore but if sounds like your dealing with an iTouch unlock, you can always restore so no matter what your fine go for it

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Rfr2TgBxwA&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - How To Jailbreak iOS 4.1 (FOR IPOD TOUCH 2G AND IPHONE 3G)[/ame]
If so, can you point me in the right direction to a guide?
Thanks!
Ignore what I just said, I just saw this. Ok, I'll do it then. Thanks for the answers.Last edited by eman4277; 09-15-2010 at 01:00 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Thanks for the video, not sure if it works but definitely no unlock because you have to restore to 4.1 first.

Yeah, definitely didn't work in the video, if you notice, where the carrier logo should be, it says iPod... he lost his phone icon too...

4.1 can be jailbroken but not properly on a 3G (not at all on any other device). It's best you downgrade to 3.1.x to do so. You have to have SHSHs to downgrade to 4.0.x. You don't want 4.0.x on it anyway, lags badly on a 3G.
Some symptoms of trying to JB 4.1 include losing phone app, mail etc (stock apps basically) and even not getting Cydia to work at all.

You can try this one...
Jailbreak iPhone 3G iOS 4.1 with PwnageTool [Guide] | Redmond Pie
there is also an Unlock guide link for IOS 4.x on older baseband using Ultasnow...
I havent tried it, so proceed at your own risk..
