Default iTunes wont upgrade iphone to iOS 4.0.1 - ideas?

    Hi all

Ive decided to upgrade my iPhone 3g from iOS 3.1.3 to 4.0.1 but iTunes 10 will not not allow me to do this.

I have downloaded the firmware and did alt + restore (imac) and selected the firmware but I get the message -

"The iphone XXXXX could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

It has been jailbroken for quite some time and I cannot remember which way it was jailbroken. I have shsh saved on cydia for 4.0.1/4.0.2.

Whats the message mean and can I upgrade? Should I just wait for 4.1 Jailbreak?

Apple isn't siging the 4.0.1 firmware anymore since they released 4.1. I would just wait. I'm a little confused though, you said your upgrading from 3.1.3. How do you have your 4.0.1 shsh saved?
