FRUSTRATED! 3.1.3 need to upgrade to 4.0.1 HOW??

So I am currently running a jailbroken 3.1.3 3GS. I would like to upgrade to 4.0.1, but keep my jailbreak. I have tried tiny umbrella but I can not get the TSS Server to work. Port 80 is open (not in use), I am the computer Admin, and my hosts file is not read only. It still tells me those are the problems. I don't know how to fix it, or do the upgrade. iTunes will not cooperate in a restore from an ipsw file. My SHSH is saved to my computer...but TSS Server will not work. Advice please?!

If you are having problems with your computer , why don't you copy the shsh file from here : Desktop > Compu Name > .shsh file. You might have to unhide windows folders options onto another computer and install tiny umbrella too. Once you have transferred the shsh blogs, you can check by clicking Display shsh. Then run the tss server from this computer.

If the TSS server is not working, what does your host file look like after editing? Be sure there's no # in front of the line youre adding and save the file to your desktop. Then try again.

Make sure you close all other apps like Skype which is using Port 80 too.

I don't have Skype. I have run the command lines to see what is using port 80, also looked through task manager, and nothing is. I don't even have a port 80 listed anywhere.

Have you downloaded the latest tiny umbrella version 4.1.3?

In your hosts file, put everything with a # sign except for 127.0.0.1 ga.apple.com

And you have stored all your shsh in TU right, display shsh will tell you that. So is your Tss Server greyed out.

Correct. Stored and TU says it's now possible to restore to 4.0.1, but TSS is still greyed. TU continues to display the port 80/can't modify hosts/non admin privileges problem.

Do you have wifi sync installed on your pc and you have your latest framework installed too.
The same folder as hosts file, there is a hosts.umbrella, check if it is 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

Restore to the 4.0.1 firmware by pressing shift when restoring. Then locate the 4.1 ISPW. Then go to jailbreakme.com on your iPhone. Jailbreak, download Ultrasnow from Cydia and you good to go!!!

I mean framework.net, for windows, you need to install it manually.
Why don't you edit your hosts file by adding this line
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
and do the Shift + Restore to 4.0 or 4.0.1 and see how it goes.

Tried exactly that, error 3194.



J Sweeney, won't work by pressing shift+restore. I have never gotten it to. Don't know why. I have downloaded OS 4.0.1 for iPhone 3GS

How do I install framework? Simple download or do I have to search for it?

Go to Control Panel, add remove software and see what framework you have, you can download from Windows update and search there.
