3GS on 3.1.2 tried to JB now....

JB with Blackrain now it turns of and goes to irecovery mode. i have to re run blackrain to get it back to home screen. what should i do. i tried to update to 4.0.1 but itunes says its not signed for this buld anymore? any help pls?

and i take it you dont have your shsh on file?

if you turn the phone off and back on and it goes to connect to iTunes screen and you have to run blackra1n to get it back to the home screen then you have a new bootrom 3GS and using blackra1n to jailbreak means you have a tethered jailbreak which will require you to run blackra1n every time, if you don't have shsh's for 4.0.1 then you will not be able to restore to that firmware, you can only restore to firmwares that apple is signing or ones you have shsh's for

thanks for all the reply i really appreciate it. so far im stuck with 3.1.2 right? is there a fix for the recovery mode loop everytime the phone restarts? or is it possible to cook a custom rom and restore?

because it is a new bootrom (tethered jailbreak) 3GS it will not accept custom firmware, if you have shsh's for 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0, or 4.0.1 then restore to the firmware of your choice and use jailbreakme to jailbreak as it's an untethered jailbreak, if you don't have shsh's for any of those firmwares then you are stuck where you are until the 4.1 jailbreak is released (which btw is a tethered jailbreak as well as far as I know)

ok for some reason i was able to update to 4.0.1 ridirected to sauriks server loaded 4.0.1 firmware the JB with JBme.com kinda weird but i guess i got lucky!

not lucky, just means you have shsh's for 4.01
