Default Internet goes slower with iOS 4.0.1?

I have just upgraded to iOS 4.0.1 and jailbreaked my device, but when I tried downloading some apps from ********** I observed that the download speed would not pass from 15/16kb/s in average.. when before the upgrade it could go with ****** always at 130kb/s.. can this be a consequence of the upgrade?
has any of you noticed that your internet goes much slower like mine?

    thanks in advance!

Now that you mention it, I noticed the same thing on my 3GS. I put it down to my carrier being a pain in the @ss as usual, but it hasn't gotten better since.

Since I've just restored, I figured this was worth testing. I downloaded the same 50MB podcast from iTunes (which I would assume gives a constant speed) on 3.1.3 and 4.0.1; most worryingly it seems it's not only 3G speeds that are affected, since these were my results over wifi:

    3.1.3: 3 min 55 sec
    4.0.1: 16 min 35 sec (!)

I might actually update to 4.1 using TinyUmbrella to see if that fixes it at all.

I noticed a slow down recently and also put it down to a bad Internet provider. But now I've seen this it actualy coincides with the date I updated to 4.0.1. Can we fix this?

I'd remove the reference to the file sharing site and this comment since the mods will Know why u use it. Also I used tiny umbrella to get my 4.0.1 and I still have the slow speed.

I meant update to 4.1 and test it, not 4.0.1. But I'm tired right now and have a busy day tomorrow, so I can do without the risk of a semi-bricked phone. Someone else will have to test it.

If you upgrade to 4.1 your baseband may change and you might not be able to restore back to 4.0.1 for the jailbreak.

Which is why I said "using TinyUmbrella", which enables a method of upgrading without upgrading baseband.

I'd try it, but when I check in cydia my SHSHs, the 4.1 does not appear... only up to 4.0.2.. why?
