3GS will NOT downgrade

From memory it says invalid firmware file. Its weird cus my iphone 4 was fine. No problem downgrading all was smooth but this error just keepa popping up straight away. Ive tried a Few different firmware files and one from that apple site from memory but i will try again and make sure i get the right firmware. Also can you jailbreak 4.02 ive looked around but really find a solid answer. Pref id like to downgrade if possible.

P.S the 3gs runs really slow with 4.02?

no 4.0.2 is not jailbreakable on the 3GS or iPhone 4

Still no go. Firmware file invalid in newer versions and the older version of iTunes I downloaded was not comatible with iPhones it was iTunes 9 or so. So what now? How do I downgrade my 3GS to 4.01 or 4.0?

OP, run a digest on that 4.0.1 .ipsw file. Your file should match the values below.

...If your values match (confirming the file is valid and not corrupted) then the only thing I can think of is something like you actually having a 3G and not a 3GS or something weird like that.

How exactly do you digest the file. Haven't done this before. Through cmd? I will do this an let you know an also confirm this Is a 3G phone I'm sure it is

You can tell the 3G from 3GS because the 3G doesn't have video recording and the 3GS does. Check that first for us.
