Help with Re-jailbreaking!!!!
Hello,
I have an Iphone 3GS with 3.1.3 firmware. I need to restore my phone in order to get a new sym card from the local store. When I jailbroke this phone with Spirit.exe, I was asked by Cydia if I wanted to store my info and I entered 'yes.'
My questions are:
How can I check that the info is indeed stored there before I restore the phone?
And once I jailbreak the phone after getting a new sym card, how do I downgrade the OS to the one stored on Cydia and retrieve the other info I need? Are there instructions anywhere on the web?
Thanks in advance,
Lisa

The Cydia info is shsh blogs. On the front page of Cydia, at the top with green letters are the infos of your shsh on file.
You can add this line to your hosts file
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
and nothing else, save it , reboots
Put into recovery mode
Do the Shift + restore to the ipsw that has the shsh file shown by Cydia.

Thanks, livin,
The problem is, I don't know how to do any of that:
"Add this line to hosts file," etc...
Need detailed instructions - will check the shsh blogs.

OK to edit your hosts file :
Click Start > type Notepad > highlight Notepad and run as admin >
Open notepad > browse to C
windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts ,
you have to select all files , *.* only then you see it,
edit it with the ip address 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com and the rest just put a # sign on it.
Save it.
Do the Shift + Restore ( Itunes) to your download ipsw.
You cannot point to Cydia if you don't have shsh file for that particular OS.

Yeow202,
Sorry for late reply. Will try to do it.
Do I do all this BEFORE I take it to the store? This is how illiterate I am here. Or do I restore it to the latest firmware, get new symcard and then do all this?
And by notepad, I am assuming you mean notepad in my comp (windows), not anything on the iPhone?
Thanks again,
DD

Yes , you use notepad. Why do u have to do this just to get a sim, jailbreaking is legal.

To the best of my knowledge, altho legal, it voids your warrantee and they won't touch it once they see it at the store.

I may be wrong but, jailbreaking and sim cards have nothing to do with each other, yes?
