Need help with Iphone 3G 3.1.3 Please

So I bought an Iphone that was on ios4 and jailbroke it.
After using it for a few months it became unbearably slow, and so I decided to downgrade it to version 3.1.3

After successfully downgraind it to 3.1.3, I tried to jailbreak it using sn0wbreeze, but at the point where I needed to restore it with the custom firmware created by sn0wbreeze, a 1600 error would pop up. I have tried using iReb to bypass the error, but to no avail.

So i downgraded iTunes to version 9.0.25 to see if it was a compatibility issue, and by some weird coincidence it did flash the iphone screen white, and it started restoring it. But around 1/5 of the progress bar on the iphone later, it wouldn't go any further. I let it sit for the whole night and it just stayed there. The restoring iphone software bar on the computer is completed tho.

I don't know what to do anymore. Any help would be much appreciated at this point.

Then what ? I have a T-mobile sim card, and so I need to jailbreak it and unlock it to be able to use this iPhone.
Sn0wbreeze jailbreak won't do it because of that stupid error 1600.
I've tried spirit jailbreak too and it returns an error log.

JB with Redsn0w 0.9.4. Get the 3.1.2 ipsw to use for Redsn0w. If you havent jailbroken already you wont need a restore since youre already on 3.1.3.

I just tried jailbreaking it with redsn0w, but once i get to the hard drive image that says "Downloading Jailbreak Data", it seems to be frozen... the thing on the bottom just keeps going around in a circle forever =/

That means youre trying to JB 3.1.3 but your phone isnt actually on 3.1.3. Youll have to restore to 3.1.3 and try it again.

I'm restoring to a stock 3.1.3 ipsw, but it seems to be the same as last night, it seems to be stuck on the iphone at like not even 1/10th of the progress bar. I will let it run some hours and see =[

This is a problem I've always had with redsn0w. To use it I had to boot my pc into safe mode.

I have tried restoring my iPhone to 3.1.3 just plainly clicking on restore on itunes 9.0.25, which should restore it to 3.1.3. Everything seemed to be working well, till the very end where a foddamn error 1015 popped up.
What am i supposed to do ?

I have managed to successfully restore it to version 3.1.3 using itunes 9.0.25 and am now trying to jailbreak it with redsn0w 0.9.4. However, it is again stuck on the "downloading jailbreak data" image... Guess i will try to put my comp in safe mode then =/
If that makes any difference, my iphone was showing the screen that said "no sim card installed" since I do not have an ATT sim card and have been using a T-mobile sim card. Does that have anything to do with it ?

As z3r01 mentioned above, place your phone in DFU mode (remember this is different than recovery mode), then connect to your computer w/iTunes already open, then try like before. There are numerous google pages describing how to get into DFU mode.

No, redsn0w should activate the phone for you so you can download ultrasn0w and unlock.
