Default Iphone 4 Running 4.0.2 What to do

    Just looking for some advice?

I have a iphone 4 on 4.0.2 not jailbroken. Yes Very sad and I am.

I just read 4.1 is coming out, announced by apple.

What should I do in hope for the future.

I've used tiny umbrella and saved the 4.0.2 shsh.

What else can I do, just sit back and wait and pray for a a jailbreak?

What's everyone thought well the 4.0.2 on iphone 4 be able to be jailbroken soon?

    is this site a hoax

    What you can do: wait.

That's all. Keep reading, stay on top of what's going on, and when 4.1 comes out, pay even closer attention, because a jailbreak will likely follow that shortly after.

I wouldn't mind being made a liar by the Dev Team, but you will NOT see a jailbreak for 4.0.2. Not going to happen, don't get any hopes up for it.

you need to downgrade the firmware from 4.0.2 to 4.0.1

Did the phone come installed with 4.0.2? If it did, you wont be able to jailbreak yet.

My phone came with the 4.0.1. It's hung on the apple logo. I applied for the TSS/ SHSH. Cydia showed request pending, and then my phone got stuck.

Will my license be processed by Saurik, and then will I be able to restore 4.0.1 using the edited host file?

I applied for the license on Sunday morning 11 am U.S.A time. And the phone craved roughly 16 hours later. I understand saurik saves it after 24-48 hours after sending the request?

Is there any way of checking if my request has been saved/ approved?

    Cheers.

Using TinyUmbrella(Mac and PC), you can check to see if its saved on saurik.

    download TnyUmbrella here
    http://thefirmwareumbrella blogspot com/
(where there are spaces put a .)

You will also need your ECID(if your not sure how to find this, let me know)

    1. open TinyUmbrella,
    2. Put a check mark in "Advanced Options"
    3. Put your ECID in the "ECID:" line
    4. "Device/Version" use the dropdown menu to select the device and Firmware
    5. "request from" drop down menu should be on "cydia"

    6. Look at the log below, and it should say if your SHSH is saved on saurik server.

    any questions let me know

Burnout399 - thank you so much for all the help!

I'll try the procedure as outlined by you. My friend applied for his TSS at the same time I did. And his cydia shows request pending. I'm waiting for his phone to show that it's saved, then I'll use tinyumbrella and the method you've outlined above.

I don't know how to check for ECID. It would be great if you could let me know that.

    Once again, thank you!

    Cheers

if you hit the "make my life easier button" Sunday then the only shsh you will get is 4.0.2, apple stopped signing 4.0.1 either Thursday or Friday

I'm on a PC. Still waiting on my friend to receive confirmation of his SHSH before I try tinyumbrella.

I was wondering, do I need to have my phone connected to the PC while I'm using tinyumbrella?

    hey ahmadrulz

i dont think you need the iphone plugged in, you just need the ecid number.

    to get the ecid number:

    1. You need to Download and install USBVIEW
    www ftdichip com/Resources/Utilities/usbview zip
    (where spaces, add .)
    2. Put your iPhone in recovery Mode.
    3. Open USBVIEW
    4. Connect your iPhone to your PC
    5. Hit F5 to refresh your PC
    6. Scroll down till you see “Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB drive” – Select it
    7. Here you will be able to find your 16 digit ECID number.
