Cydia should be on the phone already if you installed the custom firmware made with sn0wbreeze

Could someone plesae tell me if I understand Apple signing shsh blobs correctly.

I have iphone 4 - which had 4.0.1 as of yesterday, I saved my SHSH blobs via tinyumbrella yesterday. Is apple only signing 4.1 firmwares now, as it is the current firmware version? Thus my saved SHSH blobs from yesterday will be of version 4.1, and NOT 4.0.1 ? Thus if I do a full restore via itunes today using tinyumberella and yesterdays saved shsh blobs, I would not be able to get 4.0.1 on the phone again only 4.1 ?

The reason I ask, is I jailbroke my phone yesterday via jailbreakme.com, pressed the "make my life easier button" on cydia as well. I then made shsh blobs of the phone which had 4.0.1 on it at the time and save to my local computer and cydia (which was successfull according to tinyumbrella). I then wanted to wipe all info off the iphone - so did this via iphone "erase all contents and settings" - big mistake !! - phone go stuck on aple icon. I tried to restore using yesterdays shsh blobs from when 4.0.1 was on the phone - no luck - error 3002 - in both recovery and dfu modes. So I did a restore via itunes to 4.1 - as I didn't seem to have any other options. Now I'm stuck with it until next jailbreak ! I believe the shsh blobs created yesterday were not from 4.0.1 otherwise they should have worked right when I tried to do the restore yesterday and today ?

Apple stopped signing 4.0.1 on august 19th. That is why you were only able to get 4.1 SHSH.

i used this method to restore my iphone3g to 3.1.3 from 3.1.2 (it has 4.0 shsh on file but i didn't want to update it.)

glad it worked for me because i can't go into DFU mode (my power button isn't working)

I had a hard time restoring my iPhone. I'm running 4.0.1 and just wanted to do a simple backup and restore because it keeps acking as if it's on crack. That phone will freeze and after phone calls the screen stays on the call. The camera takes for ever to load etc.. The point is I wanted to just try reinstalling 4.0.1 So..... I did step by step and had no luck, I even put phone in to dfu mode and still got a error.

So I started thinking and remembered that I did this back a year ago and I edited my host.ini file. Needless to say once I added 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com in my host.ini file, It worked like a charm and I am restoring as I type. I didnt even put the phone in to DFU mode.

I just wanted to share this if anyone else has this issue.
Steps Edit HOSTS File In Windows And Mac can be located here
I also noticed umbrella made a file called hosts.umbrella but the IP was different then the one I used.

Yes. Currently running 4.0 jailbreakme. SHSH stored for iOS 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.1.

Trying to restore to 4.0 or 4.0.1 downloaded from the MMi link in first post.

Did you try all the troubleshooting in my first post? Making sure nothing is running on port 80 when running tiny umbrella etc.

Try putting it in dfu and restoring without using tiny umbrella.

Yes I know, if you used the latest version of tiny umbrella it will have edited your hosts to point to cydia. So you should be able to put it in dfu and try to restore to 4.0/4.0.1 without using tiny umbrella. If you have SHSH it should restore.

Default Never clicked "Make my life easier" on cydia....
....I have a 3gs, spirit JB in May 2010, running 3.1.3 and 05.12.01. Would like to go to 4.0.1.

When I go into Cydia, I see a bunch of SHSH: numbers in green from 3.1.2 through 4.0.2 at the top of the homepage. Does this mean that my SHSH is on file with Cydia?

If my SHSH is NOT on file with Cydia is my next move the update 4.0.1 FW (through shift-restore), RedSn0w, ultraSn0w for my device OR follow the tiny umbrella steps?

Thanks for helping me keep up wit the game.

It means you have SHSH for those, just follow the guide to go to 4.0.1 and you should be fine.

What's the size of the stored SHSH file? Sum kb? Because mine is 59 to 60kb. Is this the right size?
