What I want to do is "upgrade" my iPhone 4 to 6.1.2—I have never had it installed, so I guess I need to build a custom IPSW of 6.1.2. I've downloaded the "stock" IPSW. Since I had run TinyUmbrella, it found a 6.1.2 .shsh file. However, when I used iFaith to get 6.1.2 shsh file, it gave me an error about not finding a valid apticket for 6.1.2. Since it also warned that I could get into a DFU loop, I didn't want to take the risk of building "damaged" custom 6.1.2 firmware.
Since I've never had 6.1.2 installed on my iPhone, is there a current way for me to upgrade to it? Are any of the shsh files useful?

Normally Cydia saves your shsh for you automatically but during this round of 6.X firmwares for whatever reason Cydia did not save the APtickets properly, so all of the shsh that Cydia saved for everybody for 6.X firmwares are pretty much useless.

Thank you, Simon, for taking the time to clarify.

Phone is currently in recovery mode."Ain't no blockin' my shine, like my new Air Yeezys you can see me in the nighttime."

04-12-2013, 10:35 AM #1395Push notification issues
I'm not sure if this issue is related to the problem I was having before with iTunes telling me my phone was in recovery mode. Anyway, both the phone and iTunes are ok now, but I'm having an issue with some apps on my phone. Specifically, one app: Dropbox. Whenever I open the app, a notification pops up telling me "Connect to iTunes to use push notifications." Clicking ok makes the window go away, but another one opens up immediately. This repeats ad nausea, making it impossible for me to use the app. Oddly, this is the only app I have this issue with. Facebook also gives me the same notification, but I click ok once and it doesn't come back.
I've tried deleting the app and reinstalling it and rebooting my phone, but I can't think of anything else. I think this is probably an iPhone issue, not a Dropbox issue. Any ideas? Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.

Well I think I figured it out on my own. For those curious or with the same problem, what I did was to go into cydia and add the source http://repo.bingner.com, then install SAM. In SAMPrefs, click Utilities, then click Restore Activation. You might get an error when you do this (I did), but that's ok. Scroll down to where it says De-activate iPhone (clear push), and push that button. After that, I had no problem getting into Dropbox. Not saying it'll work for you if you're having the same problem, but worth a shot.

iPhone 3GS (jailbroken)
Firmware: I don't know, probably 4.1
Problem: Stuck on Recovery Mode
My 3GS was working fine but then I decided to update my firmware to at least 5.0 since I am no longer able to download or update apps because they require a higher version of firmware. Since I know that my 3GS is jailbroken, I wanted to unjailbreak it so that I could just easily upgrade my software through itunes.
I followed a solution on the internet: I went to iTunes and clicked the Restore button. Now, it's been stuck on recovery mode. I displays this error on the 3GS during the activation part and when activating through itunes. The error message: "Sorry we are unable to continue with your activation at this time."
Please help. And can I use tiny umbrella to fix this?
