Hi, I have a problem. So my iPhone was on 4.3.1 JB with redsn0w unlocked with gevey but it crashes. I stuck on apple logo (happens before, but I fix it wit soft-reset) but not this time. Then I screwed it up trying to kick it out from recovery with no luck. After 2 days I gave up and I gave the phone to a guy that I tough he is clever but he wasn't so he updated it with iTunes to the newest SW with the newest BB. I don't have any saved SHSH form before. I have downloaded some SHSH form Cydia. Can I use them to downgrade the software and the baseband with custom/stock ispw? Btw...when I open Cydia now it says SHSH:iOS from 4.1 all the way down to 5.0.1.

You can downgrade your firmware using those SHSH but you cannot downgrade your baseband.

i need someone's help please! i have a semi-tethered jailbroken iphone4 running on 5.0 and i want to upgrade to 5.0.1. itunes dosent work when i put into DFU mode and try to restore it and upgrade. i would like to know if their is another way to upgrade my phone so i can jailbreak it.

if baseband is not a concern, then u dont need to dfu it, just itunes-->update

if baseband is a concern, get the ios 5.0.1 firmware from google, dfu, itunes--> hold down SHIFT and click the update/restore button--> point to 5.0.1 ios firmware you got, re-jb with newest redsn0w

I agree with Simon. Find out what error codes iTunes is giving you. Its possible your device may be going into recovery mode rather than dfu mode. Either way it should let you restore/update through iTunes.

Dear Simon,
Iphone 4 with 4.3.3 untethered jb. I am trying to upgrade 5.0.1 and I have tried three different computer.
1- Macbook air lion os.
2-IMac leopard os
3- PC WINDOWS 7
Newest itunes, newest redsnow made custom fw. I got 1600 error code every time. I dont know what i am doing wrong. Help please...

Use redsnow 0.9.10b4 and choose extras. THen choose the option to enter pwned DFU and follow the instructions. Once in pwned DFU try restoring to your custom firmware again.

I guess it is working. Apple logo with a bar under it. What is the difference puting in dfu mode with redsnow? I did it as always regular way. Shut down-turn on 3 sec wait then press together with home button then release power button.

A iPhone will not accept a custom firmware without pwned DFU. Thats why you got the 16XX error.

For some reason Tinyumbrella does not see any iphone I have plugged in. I have already saved up 15 iphones so i do not know what the problem. I recently installed libusb and I wonder if that did something? Itunes can see the iphone. I am running WinXp.

Not possible. You need to be on 4.3.3 or lower for a jailbreak without a computer.
