Sorry, I have upgraded tons of iphones to 4.0.1 and have never seen that issue where wifi wont work on one firmware while still working on the previous firmware. Sounds like it might be an Apple problem to me.

At Tiny Umbrella I read: " you cannot downgrade your baseband /ever/. Once you update to a firmware with a new baseband, you are stuck on that baseband regardless of firmware downgrade. "

Sorry to bother you again BUT does that mean I may have a problem UNLOCKING with Ultrasnow? I don't have SIM card other than foreign country.

The baseband on 4.0.1 is still unlockable by ultrasn0w. The update that is supposed to come out next week (4.1) has a baseband update that kills the ultrasn0w unlock so you will want to stay away from that update until a new unlock comes out. You will need either a original carrier sim or phonebook sim to activate using this method, so if you do not have one this method will not work for you.
However there is a chance if you have an old bootrom 3GS that you can create a custom 4.0 firmware and restore to that. Download idetector from here iH8sn0w.com | Jailbreak your iPod touches and iPhones
You will have to put your iphone into dfu mode for idetector to tell you if you have old bootrom or not. To get to dfu mode plug in iphone, then hold home and power button for exactly 10 seconds, then release power button while continuing to hold home button for an additional 10 seconds. Let me know what idetector says and we can go from there.

iDetector said I have NEW Bootrom. Please note that SIM card I normally use can transfer the Stored Contacts on it to the iPhone but not back to the SIM. Question - is it a Phonecard?? Thanks

The "Start TSS Server" is greyed out and I cannot click on it. It successfully downloaded my SHSHs, but It won't let me start the server? I am on iPad 3.2.1? any ideas. THanks!

i have iphone 3GS with new bootrom: 05.13.04(MC131B)& jailbroken 3.1.3.
Cydia showing SHSH 3.1.3, 4.0,4.0.1, 4.0.2

I don't have any international sim card like ATT or AT&T..etc!

Please guide me how to upgrade Iphone OS 3.1.3 to 4.0.1??

How to unlock or jailbreak new version 4.0.1 without international simcard??

You can't, you need either a sim card of the carrier it is locked too or a phonebook sim. There is no other way around that right now. I suggest you try and find a cheap one on ebay.

i've downloaded the latest TinyUmbrella v4.1.2 and the ipsw of 4.1 "since there will never be jb for 4.0.2 why not updating to 4.1"

how to restore to 4.1 without updating the baseband?

That is detailed on the tiny umbrella creator's blog. I only have a factory unlocked iphone 4 so do not have to worry about baseband updates. See there on how to do it.

@ x98car: Thanks for this guide. I have always struggled to downgrade using the altered Host method, but using tiny umbrella, i have easily downgrade my 3gs from 4.0.1 back to 3.1.3. Happy days!

hi i have an iphone4.It is 4.0 firmware.I had downloaded a file from cydia and since then no application is working on iphone.I installed tiny umbrella but it has an shsh for firmware 4.02.It does not save my ssh for 4.01 or 4.0.
I tried evrything by changing my host file but the itune always give an error of 3xxx
Is there any way i can restore my my iphone4 as i can only recieve calls and do nothing on it.Please help
