my mate needs help on 3G

My friend has a Vodaphone locked iphone 3G and unlocked it with jailbreak me and ultra snow lucky shsh is saved for 4.0 but it keeps restarting over and over again never opens up so you can use it. If I do a restore how do I get past the activation can I get past it on itunes and my o2 simcard on iphone or does it have to be vodaphone simcard as he is uding orange and needs ultrasnow thanks

Restore and rejailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.5b-5. Redsn0w will hacktivate it.

Indeed. Check out this link to redsn0w 0.9.5 that can jailbreak and activate iPhone 3G, then install ultrasn0w as normal.
