stupid SHSH Blob question

So i am on a 3GS running 3.1.1 jailbroken with spirit.

I made the mistake of taking a two week vacation to Disney with the family, only to come back and see that while i was gone, the jailbreak for 4.01 was released, and then the door closed by apple.

Now heres the question..

on Cydia it says that saved ssh blobs for 4.0 and 4.0.1 using Tiny Umbrella...

now since i haven't installed those items, is it safe to upgrade to 4.0.1 anyway or is it a false report?

You don't have to be on a certain firmware for Cydia to save your SHSH files. As long as your host file is pointed to saurik's server you should be able to restore to 4.0 or 4.0.1.

In easier terms, yes you can restore to those, but only if you have changed your hosts file to saurik's server.
1) Browse to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
2) Right click "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator"
3) Click "Continue" on the UAC prompt
4) Click File -> Open
5) Browse to "CWindows\System32\Drivers\etc"
6) Change the file filter drop down box from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files (*.*)"
7) Select "hosts" and click "Open"
8) Make the needed changes and close Notepad. Save when prompted

Note: As of right now, Apple is signing both 4.0.1 and 4.0.2. Wrassle: According to your report, you're good to go.

For everybody else: Get 4.0.1 while it's available
