Am I missing something?
So my brother jailbroked his iphone 4 with no problem. He told me all I had to do was go through a link and *boom* jailbroken. I visit the link and to my dismay it's saying the file im receiving is invalid. I don't see Cydia popping up in my menu either. Am I doing something wrong? Or is the link dead? Someone please help, TIA!

Check your OS , if it is 4.0.1 yes you can use the jailbreakme.com, if you are at OS 4.0.2, there is no jailbreak at this OS for Iphone 4

If your on 4.0.1 then jailbreakme will work for you. Open safari on your phone and go to jailbreakme.com. Then just slide the bar to jailbreak.

I did that. Jailbreakme.com. After slide it gives message oops... file received was invalid.
Did it like 20 times, still same message.

Ok I just checked and it is 4.0.1. And the link is not working for me, it keeps saying the file is invalid. Unlike the Youtube videos that shows it say "sit back and relax". -=(
Is there another link?

Sounds like the site may be temporarily down. Give it a while and try again.

The story is the same here... I have an iPhone 4 with ver:4.0.1 and FW: 01.59.00. I have tried going to JailbreakMe with no luck. All I get is the following error, "Oops... File received was invalid." The following steps have been tested with no luck. (Just a note, I have been doing this for 5 hours...)
First:
0) Click home to bring iPhone/iPod to Home page.
1) Go to Setting -> Airplane mode -> On (Not Important.. Just in case phone call when proceeding).
2) Double tap home button. (Bring up multitask mode)
3) Press and hold on Safari till vibrates.. Click on "-" to quit safari (in multitask mode)
3.1) Press Home button to close multitask mode.
4) Go to Setting -> Safari -> Cookies -> Always.
5) Clear all Cache n cookies.
6) Open Safari and go to jailbreakme.modmyi.com
7) If cannot, Repeat! (Sometimes Server still busy)
Second:
1. Close the tab in Safari of the jailbreak page
2. Exit Safari
3. Go to Settings -> Safari -> Accept Cookies
4. change Accept Cookies to ALWAYS
5. Go back one menu step and click on "Clear Cookies" and "Clear Cache"
6. Go back into Safari and go to jailbreakme.com
I have also downloaded the iPhone 4 4.0.1 ipsw and restored the phone to factory reset. Then did the above with no luck.
Could there be a problem with the jailbreakme.com site?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :-)
Thanks!
BB
NOTE: I also get a message that says, "Waiting for activation. This may take some time." I was able to get into the phone by connecting the iPhone to my computer and starting iTunes. Once that was done, I was able to get into the phone to get access to WIFI and Safari.Last edited by babaeih; 08-16-2010 at 01:06 AM.

It shouldn't be that difficult. If your having issues there is something wrong with the site. Just wait a few hours and try again.

Well MuscleNerd has reported DNS issues with the site, the only thing I would suggest is to ensure your using the full address JailbreakMe and not jailbreakme.com.

The www.jbme workaround isn't working for most, please be patient. (Would be "funny" if ATT DNS srvrs were the culprit!)
