so when I open tinyumbrella my phone is already connected to the pc and it comes up but then a second window pops up with a bunch of errors in it and when I click ok they all close. and in the window it says no device connected.
I did it both ways. It never even recognizes that there is a device plugged in. here are the errors on the second window that comes up.

its restoring as we speak, lol. can you send me the patch for the MMS. Thanks again mate
ok so it finished restoring now it says waiting for activation. I had to put my old AT&T sim card in the phone but I dont know if it will activate with that because I no longer have an AT&T acct. it says this may take some time. is this normal???

I was having that problem with my old 3GS, I found that if you do a full reset from the phone, then re-activate it works fine, also just found out apple is still signing 4.0.1 so you didn't need to have Tiny, or change your host files.. So sorry about that
