I have a 3G IPhone on iOS 4.0.1, jailbroken and unlocked. I am having some intermittent problems with my home key and since my Apple Care runs out in Jan 2011, I am planning to send in my Iphone for warranty service, before the home key gets worse.
What is the suggested method for restoring a JB'd Iphone so that I won't run into problems with the warranty guys? Should I let the Iphone update to iOS 4.0.2? Full reset? Both? Any other suggestions? I am thinking of doing the Advance Repl. Serv, so I don't want to end up with a big charge later on.
Ok - I've spoken to Apple Care and they have said I likely have a hardware problem that would be covered under warranty, However before they make a final determination, they want me to upgrade to 4.0.2.
Question - Can they tell whether I have updated my phone from iOS 4.0.1 or iOS 4.0.2?
I have a home key going bad so I called Apple. I think they will replace the phone under the AC Warranty, but they want me to upgrade to 4.0.2 1st and see if that improves home key response. I'd prefer not to upgrade for now.
My question is does Apple Support have any way of knowing (except waht I tell them), if I am on iOS4.0.1 or iOS 4.0.2
ok - so they are going to replace it under the express replace plan. They send me a new one next week and I send back to Apple after the new one arrives.
