Blackrain wont work

I have a 3g ipod touch running 3.1.2
my friend accidently turned off my ipod and normally i would just run blackrain and it would be fine
but somehow, blackrain runs and it says the jailbreak is complete but then it just shuts off again and stays in recovery mode.
im using itunes 9.1 and have tried blackbreeze and the blackrain fix for itunes 9.1
anybody know what to do?

does that mean I will lose everything on my ipod?
and what os would it be? 4.0?

Well you would want to download 4.0.1, DO NOT do a normal iTunes restore cuz then you'll get 4.0.2 which IS NOT jailbreakable so restore to 4.0 but first make sure you back everything up because it will erase everything.

how would i download 4.0.1? and how would i back it up?

i found out how to download the ipsw's but should i restore to 3.1.2? if i do will i have all my apps and stuff?

No, you wouldn't. you should probably backup your jailbreak apps with Rock. In my opinion 3.1.3 is still the best firmware. Also, jailbreak with jailbreakme.com, Blackra1n is VERY old...

I tried restoring to 3.1.2 and 4.0.1 but it said that the files were not compatible and i ended up restoring to 4.0.2 so i cant jailbreak for now.
does jailbreakme.com work for 3.1.2?

No it doesn't. Make SURE you're downloading the 4.0.1 for the iTouch 3G. Shift Restore and try again. Idk about now, but I downgraded my gf's i4 from 4.0.2 to 4.0.1 last night at about 1:30 am. If not, sit tight. A jailbreak will be on it's way soon....

i cant find a ipsw for 4.0.1 that works

There's no 4.0.1 for iPod Touch, the latest jailbreakable firmware for iPod Touch 3G is 4.0. Get it at iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download.

Once you have restored go to jalbreakme.com on your ipod to jailbreak
