To Downgrade or Not to Downgrade?
Hey all,
So I just recently jailbroke my phone and found the wonders of third party apps. Unfortunately a lot of those apps don't work as well on iOS4 and they're features I'd love to have seeing as I have an iPhone 3G. At the same time, I'm hating how slow iOS4 runs on my 3G. So the answer would seem to be downgrade to 3.1.3
But unfortunately I don't want to lose my game data / texts that I've had on iOS4 since its release (seeing as you can restore 3.1.3 from a 4 backup). Is there anyway around that? Is it even worth it - I'm upgrading to an iPhone 4 in October...?
Thanks for any advice!!

Well I'm not sure if downgrading is even an option for you... Did you save your shsh blobs when you were on 3.1.3? If not, you are stuck on 4.0 because Apple is no longer signing firmwares below 4.0, which means they won't allow you to do it. So unless you saved your shsh blobs, you don't even have a choice.

Try jailbreakme.com. Ever consider reading the news on the front page. Geez, some people are just lazy.
You're not that far away from an upgrade. Just hang in there.
If you can't wait, just download the 3.1.3 IPSW and shift+restore in iTunes. No SHSHs are required for iPhone 3G (excluding iOS 4.x.x). I'm not sure if you can back up and load 4.0 data onto a 3.x iOS though.Last edited by douflag; 08-09-2010 at 02:40 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
